Summary

Beit Trust is an independent charity, focused on people and communities within Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The organization has been active since 1906, where the Trust was established by financier and philanthropist, Alfred Beit. To date, Beit Trust funds more than £2.5 million a year in grants to the region, providing support to more than 100 Beit Scholars at universities in the UK and South Africa. The organization also cnducts regional training for surgeons from Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered): You must be a national, permanent resident of Malawi, Zambia, or ZimbabweYou must intend to return to your home country after completing your studiesYou must be no older than 35 years on 31 December 2023You must have relevant work experience (advantageous)You must have obtained an Honours ( First/ Upper Second/ equivalent) at an undergraduate levelYou must have completed a First Class/ Distinction or Upper Second Class Honours degree/ equivalent at an undergraduate levelYou must be planning to study a postgraduate (Masters) degree at one of the above partner universitiesYou must NOT be currently engaging in studiesYou must have completed an 18 month internship and one-year posting in (preferably rural) Malawi, Zambia, or Zimbabwe (applicable to Doctors and Vets)You must have applied and been accepted to one the aforementioned UK universities (applicants for South African Universities may apply without a confirmed offer)
