Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

justBursaries is a South African bursary-discovery service available at justbursaries.co.za. This policy explains what information we process, why we process it, and the choices available to visitors, account holders, newsletter subscribers, and people who contact us.

Privacy questions and requests can be sent to info@justbursaries.co.za.

2. Information we process

  • Basic server data: IP address, request time, requested URL, browser information, referrer, response status, and security/request identifiers may be recorded in operational logs.
  • Account data: information you submit when creating an account or setting funding preferences.
  • Newsletter data: your email address, subscription status, selected preferences, confirmation data, and records needed to prevent duplicate notifications.
  • Contact data: your name, email address, subject, and message when you contact us.
  • Consent choice: your optional-cookie decision is stored in your browser so the site can remember it.

3. Why we use information

We use information to operate and secure the site, provide requested accounts and notifications, respond to enquiries, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, understand service performance where consent permits, and meet legal or regulatory obligations. We do not sell bursary applications or require advertising interaction to access funding information.

4. Cookies, analytics, and advertising choices

Essential browser storage may be used for security, sessions, and requested features. Optional analytics and advertising services are not loaded by our application until you accept optional cookies. You can reject them without losing access to bursary content.

If Google AdSense is enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies, device information, IP addresses, and similar technologies to measure and serve advertising. Depending on your location and choices, advertising may be personalised, non-personalised, or limited. Learn more through Google's advertising technologies information and manage Google-level settings at Google Ads Settings.

Where a Google-certified consent platform is required, the choices presented by that platform govern Google advertising consent. You can also revisit this site's local choice at any time:

5. Service providers and external links

We may use hosting, email-delivery, analytics, advertising, font, icon, and security providers to operate the service. Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy notices. Bursary application links lead to third-party websites; their privacy practices apply once you leave justBursaries.

6. Retention and security

We retain information only for as long as needed for the purpose described, legal obligations, dispute handling, security, and reliable service operation. We use access controls, transport security, bounded logs, and application safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

7. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, including under South Africa's POPIA and other applicable privacy laws, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or information about personal data processing. Some rights have legal exceptions. Contact us from the email associated with your account or subscription so we can verify and handle the request.

You can unsubscribe from funding emails using the link included in every digest. Browser controls can also remove stored site data and block cookies.

8. Children's privacy

The directory is intended to help students and families find funding, but account and subscription information should be provided with appropriate guardian involvement where required. We do not knowingly seek unnecessary personal information from children. Contact us if information was submitted inappropriately so we can investigate and remove it where applicable.

9. Policy changes

We may update this policy when services, providers, or legal requirements change. The review date at the top will be updated when material changes are published.
