Editorial Policy & Sourcing

How we find, assess, publish, update, and correct funding information.

Last reviewed: 15 July 2026

Our purpose

justBursaries helps South African students discover education-funding opportunities. We organise information for easier comparison, but we are not the funding provider and do not accept applications or guarantee awards. The linked official publisher remains the authority for eligibility, deadlines, documents, and application decisions.

Where listings come from

We monitor official institutions, government portals, corporate funders, universities, and selected discovery websites. Official publishers receive higher source authority than aggregators. Each observation retains its source page and collection metadata so that updates can be traced.

Publication and quality controls

  • Automated checks reject malformed, unsafe, clearly expired, duplicate, or non-funding content.
  • Titles, dates, URLs, providers, and categories are normalised before publication.
  • Ambiguous duplicates and records with serious validation errors are withheld for review.
  • Quality, verification, freshness, and source signals are stored separately; “verified” is used only when a record has completed that review state.
  • Expired opportunities remain available as historical references but are clearly separated from open opportunities.

Automation reduces errors but cannot eliminate them. Students should always confirm the latest details on the official application page before sharing personal information or applying.

Updates and corrections

Sources are checked on schedules based on their publishing frequency. A newer official observation can correct canonical application details without erasing earlier source evidence. If you find an inaccurate, expired, duplicated, or suspicious listing, email info@justbursaries.co.za or use our contact form. Include the listing URL and the correction source where possible.

Original guides and attribution

Our guides are written to help students understand funding and application processes. Facts drawn from third parties should be attributed or linked to the relevant source. We do not present third-party application instructions as our own, and we do not republish complete source pages.

Advertising independence

Advertising helps keep the platform free. Advertisers do not purchase favourable verification, ranking, or editorial treatment. Sponsored material, if introduced, will be labelled clearly. Advertising is kept separate from application links, and students never need to click an advertisement to access a bursary.

Safety

justBursaries does not charge application fees or request banking credentials for bursary applications. Be cautious of requests for payment, passwords, one-time PINs, or identity documents sent outside an official funder's process. See our disclaimer for the limits of the information service.
