The UCT Online High School was launched in June 2021, by the University of Cape Town (UCT), becoming the first university in Africa to extend its expertise and impact the secondary schooling market. The institution is accredited by the South African Comprehensive Assessment Institute (SACAI). UCT Online High School provides the South African National Curriculum, also known as Curriculum Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS), for grades 8-12, leading to the attainment of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) qualification upon completion of Grade 12.

The Learning Liberated Scholarship offers partial support, covering 80% of the tuition fee, for the duration of the scholarship awarded. Students will also receive full cover for the SACAI Grade 12 Examination fee. Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered): You must be a South African citizenYou must be reside in South Africa (at the time of the application and for the duration of your high school studies)You must have at least one parent or guardian who is a South African citizenYou must be entering Grade 8, Grade 9, Grade 10 or Grade 11You must be of the correct age to be entering the above gradesYou must be able to start in January 2024You must intend to complete the CAPS curriculum, to achieve a National Senior Certificate (NSC)You must have proven financial need, with a family household income of NOT more than R350 000 per annum or R29 000 per monthYou must achieve a minimum average of 50% for English (Home Language)You must achieve a minimum average of 50% for Mathematics, if applying for entering into Grade 8 to 10You must achieve a minimum average of 40% for Mathematics or Mathematics Literacy, if applying for entering into Grade 11You must intend to pursue tertiary studies and career after completing high schoolYou must have access to stable and reliable internet, laptop or desktop and a printerYou must have access to a safe learning environment with necessary support from at least 1 adult champion/ supervisorYou must read and agree to the rules of thescholarship policy
