The Sando Bursary Trust is dedicated to creating brighter futures for South Africa’s youth by offering access to quality university education. They are committed to supporting talented students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds, giving them the opportunity to reach their full potential and build successful lives. They focus especially on the “missing middle” – students who may not meet the criteria for government funding, yet still face financial barriers to pursuing higher education. By empowering these young individuals, the Trust strives to make a meaningful impact where it’s needed most.

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered): You must be a South African citizenYou must reside within the Western Cape provinceYou must be currently in Matric or have recently completed MatricYou must be entering your 1st year of study in ANY field, in 2026You must have a total household income of LESS than R50 000 per month or R600 000 per annumYou must have a minimum overall average of 60% for Matric final or mid-term resultsYou must NOT have a criminal recordPreference will be given to students from previously disadvantaged groups, however all applicants will be considered and those with top marks will be selected
