The Western Cape Department of Agriculture provides the Western Cape province with a range of development, research and support services. The agricultural sector allows for economic growth and enables creation of sustainable job opportunities within the province. The Elsenburg Agricultural Training Institute (EATI), founded in 1898, was the first agricultural college within South Africa. The EATI provides bachelor degree studies within the Agriculture field, in association with the University of Stellenbosch’s Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences.
