What’s covered

Funding details

The bursary will provide cover for the following expenses: full tuition fees, book allowance and transport allowance. HMM may also provide vacation work, if it is needed for the student to obtain their qualification. Students will be selected based on the following main criteria: previous year’s academic results, enrollment at an accredited tertiary institution and lastly, consideration will be given to attaining the objectives of the Mining Charter and Employment Equity Act. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited to attend aninterviewand assessment. If you do not receive any feedback by 31 October 2025, please consider your application unsuccessful. Bursaries are awarded for 1 academic year at a time, and are renewable based on academic performance and conduct. Students must pass all studies to continue funding.

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered): You must be a South African citizenYou must reside within the John Taolo Gaetsewe (JTG) District, in the Northern Cape province OR be a child of an HMM EmployeeYou must be under 21 years oldYou must be currently in Matric or have completed MatricYou must be studying or intend on studying full time towards a Degree or Diploma, within one of the fields listed above, in 2026You must be studying or intend on studying at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South AfricaYou must have a strong academic record
