Anglo American plc is a British multinational mining company – it is the biggest global producer of platinum and a major producer of iron ore, copper, nickel, diamonds and metallurgical and thermal coal. The company is headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa, and has operations throughout Africa, Europe, Australia, Asia, North America and South America. Coal South Africa is a division of Anglo American, which owns and operates Goedehoop; Greenside; Isibonelo; Mafube; Zibulo and Khwezela Colliery mine sites in the country, which produce thermal coal mainly for domestic use with a small amount to the export market.
